The tropical lagoons of Tahiti’s islands and atolls are the black-lipped oyster’s natural habitat and therefore perfect for culturing these unique pearls. The mollusk requires pristine lagoon waters and clean environmental conditions; temperature imbalances can be disastrous for a harvest.
