Keshi

Keshi pearls are accidents of nature and occur when nacre secreted from the oyster forms a separate pearl independent of the bead or tissue nucleus which may have been rejected. The result is a pearl of uncommon shape made up completely of pure nacre.

Color

Though often misnamed “black pearls” because of their grey color base, Tahitian cultured pearls come in an extraordinary range of colors, usually green or blue tones but also including such particular shades as peacock, pistachio and aubergine. That said, no pearl is one uniform color – the pearl’s overtones adds a depth and complexity to its body color.

Size

While some pearls can be as small as 7mm, a typical harvest will start at 8mm and go up to 11 or 12mm in diameter. Larger pearls, reaching up to 18 or even 20mm in size, are very rare and therefore expensive
