Quality
Tahitian pearls are renowned for being of utmost quality as compared with those of other pearl-producing regions.
The Tahitian government takes its pearl industry very seriously. Tahiti is the only country in the world in which there is a Pearl Ministry and an official Pearl Inspection office, where each and every pearl is not only visually inspected for quality, but is required to undergo thorough x-ray inspection before being cleared for export. The minimum coating of nacre over the nucleus must be at least 0.8 mm. These measures ensure that all Tahitian Pearls are not only of above-standard quality but guaranteed to retain their natural color and untreated luster. Upon inspection, any pearls not meeting these rigid standards are destroyed. In this way, every Tahitian Pearl is not only unique, but guaranteed to be of high quality.
